Insert dynamic Skype link into your email signature

You want to insert a Skype link along with your email signature and would like to reach people through Skype? 

Here are details to insert a Skype link into your email signature.

By inserting a Skype link, users can Call you, send Chat messages or Add your Skype profile.

• Step I : Generate Skype short URL link:

  Skype application can be opened directly by clicking Skype icon in your email signature by using one of the following link commands

  skype:your-skype-name?call - Your recipients can call your Skype number directly.
  skype:your-skype-name?chat - Your recipients send a message to your Skype profile.
  skype:your-skype-name?add - Your recipients can add your Skype profile.

  Note: If you have installed the Skype click-to-call application on your computer then a Skype hyperlink will appear automatically. If the Skype Click-to-call application is not installed then you have to generate a short URL link of your Skype link commands. By the way, Skype click to call buttons are not supported in email clients like Gmail etc. Hence, generating hyperlink using the below steps is the best solution as it works on all the email clients.

  1. Open the link below using your Web Browser http://is.gd/
  2. Copy and paste your Skype link command as shown in the below screenshot

     For Instance:

     Your skype name :  live:.cid.639336966
     If you want, your recipients to 'add' your Skype profile then the link command is:

     skype:live:.cid.639336966?add
  3. Click the 'Shorten' button to generate the short URL link

     

  4. Copy the short URL link and use this link as a hyperlink to your Skype icon in your Sigsync email signature template.

     

• Step II : Insert Skype short URL link in your email signature template

  1. Login to your Sigsync email signature Dashboard
  2. Open Sigsync Signature Editor from the Dashboard

     

  3. Create a new template or open your existing signature template and drag and drop Social media component.
  4. Select an appropriate Skype icon from the Sigsync image / icon repository
  5. Now, click the Skype icon in your Signature temple design area and from the right hand side Properties tab, enter the Skype short URL link generated above. Refer to the below screenshot.

     

• Steps III : Inserting links dynamically 

  If you want to insert Skype short URL on each and every members of your teams (company) email signature automatically then follow the below steps:

  1. Follow the above 'Step I' and generate short URLs for each and every member.
  2. Open your Office 365 Azure AD and use any empty AD field of the particular member and enter this short URL link and save AD changes.

     For instance: You have used the ${faxNumber} Azure AD field and saved the Skype short URL link then you have to enter ${faxNumber} in Sigsync as shown below. 

     

     OR

  3. After saving Office 365 Active Directory (AD) changes, click here to know the steps to sync AD changes with Sigsync.
  4. 'Save' the signature template. That's it!
