Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) Enabled Authorization
Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is a security method that verifies a user’s identity by asking multiple credentials. It is a significant component of identity and access management (IAM). Unlike just asking for a username and password, MFA requires other additional credentials, such as a code from the user’s mobile phone, the answer to a security question, a fingerprint, or facial recognition.
MFA is an effective way to provide enhanced security. MFA creates multiple layers of security to increase the confidence that the user requesting access is who they claim to be.
Sigsync Security
Sigsync email signature service requires global admin to configure Exchange Online connectors. This is as per the flow guided by Microsoft. Sigsync is a Microsoft Approved Email Signature service.
In particular, Sigsync ensures highest level of security for your data and it will never store any credentials on its server. Sigsync uses secure cloud services for email signatures and disclaimers as per the flow instructed by Microsoft. Your emails are not stored or read by anyone. Your Office 365 credentials are not stored and safeguarded by oAuth 2.0 and TLS encryption during configurations and authentication.

How to use MFA based authentication in Sigsync
With Sigsync you must use ‘App Password’, if Multi-Factor authentication (MFA) or two-step verification is enabled for your Office 365 account.
Most common errors that may appear during connectors configuration
- Error: ‘The request failed. The remote server returned an error (401) Unauthorized’
Resolution:
Create and Use ‘App Password’ to authorize Office 365 login for Sigsync Email Signature service connectors configuration.
- Error: Connecting to remote server outlook.office365.com failed with the following error message: MI_RESULT_FAILED
Resolution:
Create and Use ‘App Password’ to authorize Office 365 login for Sigsync Email Signature service connectors configuration.
- Error: ‘Connecting to remote server outlook.office365.com failed with the following error message: Basic Authorization failed for user’.
Resolution:
In some cases, even if you use ‘app password’, authorization will fail. This may happen due to the ‘security defaults’ settings enabled. ‘Security defaults’ settings will block the legacy authentication. To overcome this, disable the ‘security defaults’ settings in your Office 365.
